Old-style Beverage Can Pull-Tab—Didn't they stop making these a long time ago?

I found this, a few days ago. I'm old enough to remember when this style of pull-tab was common, but I thought they stopped making them a very long time ago, as in the 1970s or possibly early 1980s.

Does anyone still make these? This one doesn't look like it was in the ground for very long.

Aluminum takes a long time to corrode depending on the area it is dug and whether the area is fertilized or pesticides are used.

I still find those usually without the tab part. Also find square tabs.

They were outlawed in the US, because they create litter. They are called "pull tabs" and sound like nickels or gold rings on the machine. If you find just the ring part, it is a "pull ring"... if you find just the tail part.. called a "beaver tail". These are one of the items that we all do not like to find.

Welcome to TNet. I assume that because you are new, you are not a troll. Assume is the key word!

I'm constantly finding these pull tabs on surface! Sort of weird that they haven gotten buried in what, 40 years?

Bob Baylock welcome to TNET and be prepared to dig many more along with square tabs and shredded can slaw- a detectorist nightmare - which at times they can mimic nickels & quarters. Anyway I wish you many great finds while out dirt fishing.

I just found two of these in my yard. My house was built in 2005. I remember using these way back when!

I have found the cans that they still come from, Peach juice from Mexico, fresh as late as 2009 in Southern Arizona.

Just part of the game that we very much enjoy. I always come home with a few pull tabs. If I go to the "old worked out park" I'll come home with a bunch of 'em.
