Ok guys I've been I touch with one of the suppliers of Tesoro MDs and they will not come down on the crazy prices they are trying to charge here in the UK and they haven't even got any in stock so that MD is a bit of a non starter unfortunately. Will the Sea Hunter be ok for me to start with do you think, I can see they are a bit on the heavy side but you can mount the control unit on your belt. I can get a SH for £495 including delivery instead of £659 plus delivery for the SS, what do you think?

OK, here's my experience. The beach is the easiest to hunt. You just go along ,hear the beep, and scoop. Nothing could be simpler. I have done this for many years, and with the same detector, a Whites Surfmaster PI. Yes, it's 15 years old and good as new. Just turn the two knobs to the preset positions and detect. I have found rings 10" down and a boat anchor 4' down. Pick up a used one for under $400 and a good long handled scoop and you are good to go.

Thanks for that but I'm in the UK and I can't see anything used and tbh I think I will go new as it's my first one.

Thanks again for all the help, I've done the research and asked the questions and I'm now going to order a Sea Hunter on Monday. If anyone has any tips on using it, I'm listening.

Well chaps I have hunted high and low for a Sea Hunter and there are none in the country and no one really knows when the next shipment will arrive, not really sure what to do now.

The main importer for Garrett was showing the Sea Hunter out of stock yesterday and is now showing in stock so I assume they have arrived in the UK.

Can you get your hands on an Excalibur? I think you may be disappointed in a Pi detector starting out and as your only machine. They do have their place, although some VLF's can approach same depth and you won't have to dig tons of rubbish.
