We've all messed up something.
I just rinsed my IH dried it and dropoed it in a small container of mineral oil. Mine was toasted anyhow.

Ya, vinegar & salt should be used on common clad, just to clean it enough for spending.

CLR works great on common pennies and again don't leave them in long. They come out shinny....usually.

Don't know if you guys ever heard of the "tater treatment" ,,, But on a real trashed coin, stick it in a potato, leave it a few days, take it out, clean with water and tooth brush.

Really get the gunk off [Would not recommend for nickels, I tried it and it turned pumpkin orange].

if that's the worst mistake you make, in this hobby, you're light years ahead of me. I scarred more than one coin, or artifact, with my digging tool during my early days. Now go find one to replace it! :icon_thumleft:
