I was perusing a 1939 GIS map when I saw this:

It's now woods. Should I go explore or stay the hell away??

I would like you to explore, just record it and hit "send" before you're captured and burned at the stake.

No idea bud. A couple of years ago I was detecting on the edge of town. I came across a pentagram scraped into the grass and long dripping oozes of candle wax all along a main tree branch, above the say.... 30 foot circumference star in a circle. It creeped me out so I told the local police about it. It turned out that there was a Hollywood type movie made on the site.

Sweet !

it's only Satanic if you look at it from a different Angle with the goats ears straight up .

1.jpg

interesting non the less . for 1939 Ball Field ? School ? farmers field ?
church property for christmas pageant doings or ?
the buildings upper right look like it could be a farm, school, fairgrounds
or park with a pool.

I'd say too public for Witches Coven doings. unless it was a Public celebration of
witchcraft or Halloween. & as far as I now,
Wicca is a new thing only really brought out in the 50's.
and only started getting big attention with the latest
enviroMental Hippy women's movement.

did it give a Month and Day for the Flyover ?

did you check other years ?

I would say search it. I wanna Search it :laughing7:
of course that's out :unhappysmiley:
but Seriously odds are it was done for a reason & not just by one lonely person
to know about and snicker to them-self . so there was probably allot of foot traffic there

I have come across a few Santeria rituals in the wooded areas of parks. They are almost always accompanied by a sacrificed rooster, some candles, maybe a goat head, and some coin offerings.
You might find some pre-1939 coins if that was a Santeria site. It definitely shows some activity that took a little time. Always possible to lose coins during those activities.

I, too, would like to know the date that photo was taken. Might be something related to many crop circles. Obviously it's not perfect, so either their ground or their math was off? :laughing7:

looking close it appears it was made using a vehicle of some sort.
Perhaps a Tractor.

Do you leave the Santeria coins there, or tempt fate and take them?

I think you have to do it for the novelty, if for no other reason. You will win every category at your metal detecting club when you show up with silver chalices, bones of virgins, and eerie blood red candle wax drippings.

NOVEL!

other thing I'm seeing, is this a Hill ?

Ima.jpg

If it is, It most likely was the reason for the Location of the Star .
People could sit & stand up there & see the whole effect.
This hillside may have had allot of Traffic also.
and if the star was just a lighted star for Christmas, The brunt of the Traffic would have been up top

I'm curious as well what you find. It only looks satanic in certain directions. In other directions it could be a Christmas star lol

Or maybe just someone being patriotic. Folks did all kinds of things during WWII to show just that. Might want to see if maybe there was a military airfield somewhere close by. Something for the fly boys to see from the folks at home.
