Disabling location services?

A fellow member mentioned in a thread about disabling location services when posting pictures of finds insitu or on location. R u kidding me?
Is it really possible for someone to find you're honey hole using pictures we are posting?
I don't want to know how it is done nor do I want anyone posting on this thread how it's done.
I'm just looking for clarification so myself and others can be more careful. Its bad enough dealing with all the local moochers trying to "befriend" me for my spots. Thanks, Mike

As an additional note...

I do not disable my location services. I like my pictures tagged, for organization and other reasons.

When I post a photo on TN I open the photo up, and then take a screen shot of the photo.

I only post the screen shot, and this is the information that can be gleaned from it...

A lot less, 'eh?

That's why I use a camera and not a phone. Way too easy to glean info from those devices...

This is true for me as well. Probably 75% of my "before" pics are taken in my yard or house. Most of my insitu pics are too dark or out of focus to use here.

There's a freeware pgm out there called EXIF pilot. You can delete or change the exif data from pics and keep the data on your original photos before posting. Simple! It's so easy to use even I can make it work!! I posted a ways back how I changed the info to an area quite a ways from one of my projects to check a friends honesty. Sure enough! He showed up at the bogus site. Seriously if you're worried give this pgm a try!

This has been a known issue to gold prospectors for almost 10-years now. There were several instances of patches being cleaned out by phone pirates in Arizona and California.

If you hunt any kinda treasure disable location services.Many good spots been lost to looters.
