I agree. Treasurenet has a very good mining/prospecting section here: Gold Prospecting

You might also do a web search on gold mining and look through the many sites that are dedicated to mining/prospecting. In addition, google has quite many books available free for download. Most are older, but most of the information is still relevant. And also don't forget to check out BLM website for their info.

As for where to find land in the east, that could be rather difficult. Best bet would be to do more research and look for areas where gold has been found in the past. Plot locations on a map and, if you happen across a piece of land within one of the marked areas, check it out.

But before you buy ANY land or ANY claim, you best learn how to sample, and sample hard! Never take anyone's word. Accept the information, but trust your own judgement.
