My fellow detectorists do not be lulled into a false sense of security. Not to be an alarmist but our great hobby is under siege from numerous directions.. Give this statement some serious thought.Consider the facts; there are more of us, better machines and a dwindling supply of land available to us to detect.
Brethren of the coil there is a way to combat this....to turn the tide. The continuance of our past time is embedded within each and everyone of us. So let us reach out and grasp it, dearly and with no reservations. To combat this we have to take the initiative, the offensive. This requires good intel. The will to succeed. Research that can be obtained from your public library, archives, "lost and found" on the Internet and in the paper. Another invaluable resource is the local population that can be approached in the appropriate social setting. Bare in mind the older generation that has lived in the area. The older generation that built the community, worked in it and raised a family there.
In order to achieve our objective we must be willing to come out of our respective comfort zones. Our ranks are filled with all kinds of specialists; relic hunters, clad gatherers, dump divers and those who partake in aquatic endeavours. Trying a different mode of hunting could be a treasure unto its self. We must adapt, improvise and overcome. Broaden our horizons so that in this year we will flourish. So that this year we will increase our enjoyment . So that this year we will once again be a community of enhanced enjoyment!
