I'm not sure a detector exists that can pickup flakes and flour gold, especially a CTX.

If you are searching for "prospecting" style gold there is probably not a worse machine for it than a ctx. The ctx is one of the very best for coins and gold rings but not small gold..

As JackalopeZL1 says: The 3030 is a coin/relic machine. Not a prospecting/nugget machines. There are specialty nugget machine that can get nuggets down to the size of pin heads and smaller. And there are cross-over machines that are designed to try to do both venues (yet will excel in neither arena).

Ironically, a machine "capable of sounding the bells of notre dame on pinhead sized targets" is NOT what the coin/relic guy wants ! If a machine is sensitive enough to find every single BB, birdshot, speck, staple, pushpin, etc..., then you would go bonkers in a ghost-townsy site.

Thus you have the wrong machine for nuggets.

3030 is not designed to find tiny gold particles, it will hit on 1/2 gram but not on grains of gold.

I recommend the GPX 4500, 4800 or 5000 and if money is not an issue the GPZ7000.
