In the Morning my Wife will go for the first time to hunt a permission with me. Except for the one time she went along on a hunt when she walked the dog and had no interest in the hunt, this will be her first time with me where she has genuine interest in MDing. I finally have started getting her curiosity up by bringing items back that she finds interesting. So she asked to go and that is a step in the right direction. She even said she might want to consider a detector for herself so we can hunt side by side and have friendly competition. Hey I am all for anything that will allow us to spend more time together. We used to go on motorcycle rides together but some knee injuries for her have cut that way back. So wish her luck tomorrow and I hope this leads to some happy hunts together in the future. Here is us last year on our ride.

Nice ride,,
This will give you the chance to upgrade,,
Let her get used to using your detector and then explain that since she already understands it,
it makes sense for you to give it to her.
That way you can focus on learning your new DEUS.

So by first time, does that mean you are going to let her dig the holes or actually use the detector? HAHAHAHA......

Good luck tomorrow, I hope she finds something great and wants to stick with it.

I brought up the idea of my wife metal detecting with me, her response "you have your things and I have mine." Fair enough, she is a writer and theatre chick, I have zero interest in either one.

I hope that your wife nails it today and that the hook is set.

Wifes opinion on metal detecting
Since I have started metal detecting I have spent a lot of time on the computer reading and comparing detectors. This morning my wife told me she fills like a metal detecting widow.
A little history on us. I lived between Chicago and Milwaukee and my wife has always lived in the south. Nine years ago we met and got married. As a kid I would go to the beaches of Lake Michigan and she loved to go to the Gulf Coast and Florida.
I have never seen anyone metal detecting at Lake Michigan. But my wife tells me she would always see these old men detecting, but she announced to me that they were much older than me. Me being 64 I guess she was trying to make me feel good. She then told me I guess a man is happy as long as he has something to swing!!! She said a metal detector is simply a phallus symbol for a man. The larger and "better" the detector, well, you get the idea!
I have to admit, I have a wife with a great sense of humor!!!!

Well here are the finds from today while hunting with the Wife. She is possibly hooked but we will see. We found All Iron and Shot Gun Shells unless you count the trash, Can Slaw. OK so we found some type of spikes with flat ends on them. Any Ideas on these? e also found an Iron Hook, Small Square Nail and a chain and hook that is big and heavy. Shot gun shells, The front of a 2 part button and some sort of brackets, maybe valve lifters from way back? They are the two squares with the hole and slot in them. Any Help there? Wife had fun. We didn't find any coins again. This settlement must have been a barter community or something. Today we are pretty sure we were searching an old black smith shop. Take a look and comment please.

No way theres no coins there with that much going on imo. Maybe a smaller coil would work better? Neat finds!

Thanks, it is a 2012 GL1800 Goldwing. That was on Hwy 80 near 226A in N.C. below the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Looks like you and your Wife had a good time! lots of interesting finds! She will be hooked in short order. I had NO earthly idea my wife would ever enjoy Metal detecting. I am so very glad I asked her to go. she is my full time hunting partner now and we have incredible fun out there together!

Looks like a good start hunt for the two of you together and get her back out and grab a few coins and a piece of jewelry and if she is still on the fence, that'll push on to going ahead. Let her run the Ace and then get and upgrade. Congrats on the finds! That is a nice ride!
