That's a killer machine and a super price.
I've had one for about 4 months and couldn't be happier.

Great machine but on the heavier side, which can make a big difference for some people.

The MXT is a cross-over machine. An attempt for a machine to be able (with the flips of some control switches) do both nuggets (prospecting) or coin/relics.

As such it will excel in neither venue. There will be better coin machines (much better mind-you), and there will be better nugget machines (much better mind you).

But for a starter machine to goof off in each venue, it serves its purpose. If you go to a hard-hit colonial or CW site, you're not going to have much of a leg up to sniff out leftovers. Or parks that have already been hit hard for their deep silver, this isn't the machine that's going to go there for an additional "edge". But if you're talking easy-to-work yards, or dinking around the campground, then sure, it'll suffice.

As for the price, have you checked ebay closed bids to see if that's the going rate for those @ the used market ? Or compared to forum classifieds asking prices ?
