other then it looks like it went through war .
(heavy Use) I don't see anything particular.
because of it's obvious Damage, even the half Circle scratch & Pock Marks could have happened after
it left the mint imo Sorry !
in order to prove Mint Damage, I would guess you would need to find its Twin

The pits were what i was concerned most with. I have done some research but have not found anything particularly speaking of a pitted nickel. Just a odd find to me and thought i would throw it up to see what i might be able to find out here
It could have been a dug Nickle .
then was run through a Tumbler .
or hammer damage
Hard to say, But I have never heard of Pits coming from the Mint either.
The circular scratch could be from the mint.
But as I said considering it's age and other damage , it would be hard to prove

Jeff of pa is correct, simply an old, dug nickel that has been cleaned (read:wire brush) and put back into circulation...ha-funny thing, I've got nickels in my tumbler as we speak..Ddf

I think that the circle is coin roll damage, from being crimped too tightly on the end of a roll. The rest of it is just wear and tear, worse than most coins, from age and the ground (if it was dug).

Hmmm,,, I think that nickel was minted before the beginning of 1955. Pretty sure.
