My parents have had this watch for a long time now and they don't know if it's real. It's been locked up for many years and I know the condition isn't great with the seconds hand broke and other faults however the watch has significant weight to it and it also works via pulse after all those years of lock up. Can someone please tell me if it's fake or not? Thanks.

Does the hand that shows seconds tick or does it have a constant flow?

The seconds hand has broken/fallen off, I can't tell. The watch is very old

Rule of thumb is if the seconds hand ticks it's fake, if it stays in constant motion it real.

This I understand, but that hand is broken off/fallen off, can you tell from the pictures and engravings if it's real?

This watch "looks good".

Band marks are perfect... fakes rarely have these and if they do they are weak.

Just take it to a certified Rolex jeweler in your area. I can by a "Rolex" on Canal Street in Manhattan for $100.00 that will fool "experts." Yes, the second hand does sweep on NYC fakes. :occasion14:

I inherited my father's "TIME SQUARE" Rolex bought in 1954 at that location from a seller in a long coat and watches running up and down on both arms for $20.00.

Listen, if it ticks, it's a fake. If not, time to visit a Rolex dealer.

To confirm have an experienced watch jeweler open it up. It will confirm if it's fake or not...

IMHO, it is likely a fake! I say this due to the 18K stamped into the clasp of the watch band which appears to be stainless steel. Sure, I know that there is 18K White Gold but the band just doesn't have the look of White Gold and appears in looks to be stainless steel.
