Was stuck in the house, wanted to be elsewhere but found out that my daughter and family were going to be here sometime this morning. I hadn't seen them in a while so I was resolved to wait until they left. Now as I pondered on what to do, I remembered the dozen jalapenos that a friend had given me from his garden. So, while we waited for them to show, I got busy. I had already had some strips of venison marinating in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke to make the poppers in a couple of days but today would work just fine. I cut the jalapenos in half, deveined and seeded them with a small spoon and then filled them with cream cheese. Then I placed a strip of meat on each one before wrapping them in bacon. I used two toothpicks to secure the bacon and then they went into the oven at 425 degrees for around 24 minutes (until bacon is crisp). I used to do them on the grill but ended up losing too much of the cream cheese. Wish you could smell these things! Wish you were here to eat some (NOT!). Actually, they disappeared rather quickly but I assure you that the ones I ate were pretty darn good. yeah, a couple were kind of warm but that just comes with the territory. The problem lies in the fact that they are like Lays potato chips, you can't eat just one. It pays to wear the rubber gloves when doing this. DL

I've made them with Little Smokies, and loved them, but venison sounds awesome.

BTW, some call those ABTs (Atomic Buffalo Turds)

Those jalapenos look awesome! Love em! I use to grow them in my garden and put them in everything!
Might have to try what you made. If you like mushrooms, slice some up when cooking the shrooms and toss em in with some Italian dressing. SO TASTY!!!
