Never heard of it, though I am writing an article for W&E treasures about dating buttons, and what they tell you about a site. Good luck finding a copy, I am curious too about it, as I would love a good button guide that focuses on civilian buttons rather than just military buttons.

Exactly. I can pretty much date any button but I here there is a wealth of knowledge in that book and would love to reference it.

Exactly. I can pretty much date any button but I here there is a wealth of knowledge in that book and would love to reference it.

Right now my only references when IDing a button for someone else in What is It are short spreadsheets made by archaeologists, one page identification guides from obscure websites, or from other TNET members or posts. At this point I can roughly date a button before I even remove the dirt, but having a written guide would certainly be a good thing to back up my date ranges with. Good luck finding this book, it looks like it is out of print right now sadly. There has to be some used copies for sale somewhere though. I'm going to try to finally finish up my article today, maybe it will help out some people date buttons that they haven't been able to research and ID, and act as an easy to check resource guide for those who constantly dig buttons.
