Why has no one developed a plug that allows someone to use a coil with different machines. Since most machines have a proprietary coil jack i would think someone could develop an adaptor so that coils could be interchangeable. Is there something I'm not thinking about in regards to coil manufacturing that would not allow this? I know the aftermarket coil companies would never make something like this.

One reason I can think of is that different machines operate at
different frequencies, and those coils are calibrated to operate at very
specific freq's. The detectors transmit/receive abilities rely on the
coil being properly designed and calibrated for the specific circuitry
used by that series of detectors.

They could use a universal plug, but that won't make the coils universal.
