I have had an Ace 400 for a little over a year now. I have found some really neat and nice coins and artifacts in that year. But I told my wife I really wish I could upgrade to something a little more advanced. I have been looking at options and for the price range the AT Pro seems to be the right fit for me. I just couldn't pull the trigger since I really don't live in an area with loads of old coins or Civil war artifacts. So I just told her I could wait another year or so.

Well the other day my wife surprised me by buying me a brand new Garrett AT Pro. She said she wanted me to go ahead and get what I want and enjoy what I love to do. Wow, what a great gal! Loved her before this but man she makes it easy to love her. LOL Now I just need to get past the learning curve. Sorry, But just wanted to tell it!

I've had mine since they first came out. Definitely a great workhorse for detectors and I'm sure you'll love yours. My suggestion, use "Pro" mode and learn from that.

So you are saying to skip the Standard Mode and go right for the Pro Mode? That is what I thought I would try. Thanks

LOL, I think it is just the fact that I will be giving the Ace 400 to her to use. Unless she snags the Pro, then I will know! LOL

Yes that is the mode you'll want to use so in my opinion it's best just to start off that way and learn it. Pro mode gives an audible tone for depth and actually detects a little deeper as well.

Ditto, go straight for the Pro Mode, and if you can, add the 5x8 coil. Tip: Sweep Slowwwwwwwww and really concentrate on the sounds. Watch some AT youtube vids.

Great Gal you got there! Have fun!!!

Congrats on the early Christmas gift.
Yep, PRO ZERO mode.
Start checking your area for fresh water lakes that have beaches.
The PRO has a fairly easy learning curve, especially since you already understand the ACE 400.
If you decide to go into fresh water beach hunting, here's a few things to add to your Christmas list.
Wet suit, Sand Scoop, and Waterproof Headphones. lol

Read the manual many times, and best of luck to you.

Defiantly, I have watched the included DVD 3 times and I see and learn something new every time. Then I go out and try to put it to use. So far so good. Thanks
