Yes.....I love the idea, and I like to get the 10 ounce bars of silver. Im not sure where silver is today, but they were running about 160-175 when I bought last. Sure is nice when they come in the mail.

Yes, I always take my clad count and buy silver US coins after the end of the year. I go to a small local coin dealer who has the best prices in my area.

I hadn’t really thought much about it. I just been putting them in a big bucket but you guys make a very good suggestion. I need to clean them up first because they all still look like pennies. Thanks for the idea and HH.

I bought a double chamber horziontal tumbler from Harbor Fright works great to clean up coins just do not over load. I use aquarium gravel, squirt of Dawn dishing washing soap and about onuce of CLR. Tumble for about 2-3 hours coins look almost new. Coppers in one chamber, clad in the other.

2 rolls for 1 one ounce bar the last time I traded up. All dug clad quarters. That was a while ago, I need to do it again. Deposit in bank then do electronic transactions for silver purchase.

I use the sellers choice when picking bars, there choice will be the cheapest over spot. I dont care wich bar I get as long as they are 999silver. Boy its nice to change dirty quarters into clean silver bars !! Once you do it your hooked !! Every quarter you dig is that much closer to a silver bar !!

I plan on taking all my clad and modern copper coins that I have found this year and purchasing at least three silver coins. Anyone else panning on doing similar or have done similar in the past?

Oh yes.
do it all the time , 4-5 clad Quarters = 1 common Silver Mercury Dime, of course i'd rather dig my Silver.

Even better is My scrap Brass , Copper , Lead , even Iron gets turned into Coins I like , I usually buy type coins that appeal to me ,or Common melt Silver. I have only bought bullion a couple times (likely should get more) ,& at this time ; I'm half-way paid up on a $10 Gold 1892 , bought with scrap metal finds.
GL with your purchases .

Yes, I did this when I detected in the 80’s. Spent the clad on some high quality silver three cent pieces that have greatly appreciated. Know going prices, purchase from a reputable dealer and buy the highest quality you can afford.

Have done this in past years and converted my clad into "sleeper" low mintage silver coins I'm not likely to dig, and which have actually appreciated in value. The Grandkids seem to absorb all my clad now.
