Im not sure why I keep looking at this penny in my grandpas collection and feeling like somethings off, but can’t place what. I was wondering if anyone’s more trained eyes could tell me why I keep coming back to look at it but nothing to put my finger on. Thank you for any help.

I know they closed s f mint after 1955, so no more s coins, they reopen it in 1969 I think, but I don,t think they put some on there penny coins, I think they made mostly proofs. Thanks for the post. Marion

He passed away 15 years ago, then when my mother passed away 3 years ago since I was the only one in the family into coins they went to me.

Obvious IMO that the date was placed -

544,375,000 1969S Cents minted.

There was a double-die error that year/mint. But yours is not a double-die.

The 2013 Red Book (the newest one i have) say's there were nearly three million minted
in good condition it is worth $1, it also says that year there were some double die obverse
released that in ms-63 condition are worth $50,000, on another note they said the dies were modified
that year to ''strengthen design'' also Lincolns head was made smaller, the dies were changed again in 1973
it's worth holding onto, I have 35 1669-d and three 1969-s, in fair condition just went and checked mine
no double die obverse for me either, but the adrenaline rush is allways cool.

There were 2,934,631 proof strikes. 544,375,000 business (regular) strikes at the San Francisco mint in 1969.

Perhaps 100 double-die errors. Those are the valuable ones.

Definitely would be cool to come across one of those unicorn double dies, this penny just wanted to capture more of my attention then it deserved and I kept giving to her. Thanks for all the great info, really appreciate this site
