Don't feel bad, I'm missing a $5 slabbed US gold coin, a piece of old but cheap Chinese money, and a marble. Maybe all my marbles. They are here. I put them in a "safe" place while the carpet installers were here. I haven't found the "safe" place yet.

I found a silver ring on the floor last night. I remember finding it about a year ago, but haven't seen in a long time.

The cat "takes" stuff and hides it somewhere, she has taken all of the lighters in the house, at least a dozen of them. She like chap sticks too. I can not figure out where her hiding spot is, but I suspect that if I ever find it, it'll have more MDing treasure in it.

Bad kitty bad!

I lost a car badge from a 1920's car. I thought maybe it fell in the trash can when we were installing cabinets and counters in the craft room. Boy was I surprised to find it between some picture frames in a drawer about 9 months later. :icon_thumright: I did lose my 1st sterling engraved spoon when I took all my finds to show my brother-in-law about 150 miles away. I could not find it when I returned home. I know he didn't take it, again, it probably fell in the trash bin in the van and was disposed of. :BangHead:

During my first week of metal detecting I found a pocket spill of a wheat penny, a buffalo nickel, and a barber dime. I had to wheat penny in a holder, put it on a table, and haven't seen it since. Considering that I recently moved, I don't think that I will ever see it again :sadsmiley:

Lost a few more cool items, don't want to remember them right now though lol.

40 years ago, I was digging a lot of old dumps as a teen. Found a pair of bifocals framed in gold, with German inscriptions. Glass and all intact, beautiful. Took them home, but cannot find them to this day.

I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!! But, it isn't a large cent, it's a half cent. I can't quite make out the date but I think it is 1825. I also found an 1837 large cent I forgot I had. Now all I am missing are five or six peace dollars. I'm thinking of offering a reward for them!

Come to think of it, yes. Years ago somewhere in Nevada I think, I found a full length brass shotgun shell, I had set it down for some reason to do something, and could NOT find that puppy again. Still think about it. And then there is a 1943 steel cent I dug, which had a partial copper coating on it, someone's attempt to counterfeit? It is somewhere in this house, it with a few other things, have not seen it in some years. Where O where can it be???????????

Well, I found the marble! It was sitting in a "nest" of four other Rev War musket balls. It looked just like one. The Confederate button, gold coin and Chinese coin are still missing. Check this out. I found an 8 reale cob in my jacket pocket a few weeks ago when I pulled it out for the cold weather. I did find another Confederate button just like this one so may have had a brain "accident" and thought I had bought two and only bought 1. Fortunately, none of these items are big ticket. And...ohh...ohhh. just found another gold ring. Flipped it down on the dining room table, can't find it. aarrrggghhhh The cats may have nailed this one. Bright, shiny and battable.

I don't know how old you are but I'm a lot closer to 70 than 60. One good thing about forgetting something is when you find it, it's like finding it for the first time!

In 1972 when I was 17 and searching the local city park I found a brass belt buckle with the letters US raised with an oval shape. I placed it in my junk box; thinking it was from WWll. Many years later after I had left home I urged my parents to look for it in my old room. It disappeared gone. What was my bad was the fact that every week I was reading Lost Treasure mags from our newstand: should have paid attention to the articles about civil war relics. I also found lead three ringers which I would toss out as junk too. I just moved back to my hometown so you can guess where I will be after this snow is gone.
