I like anything old that still works. I have some ancient Snap On ratchets and other tools and some old cross cut saws that I prize and can still use.
I always keep anything like that for sure. They hold great value to me.
My firewood and water getting truck is a 1970 F250 Ranger with a 390. It never leaves this property and has had chains on it for 8 years now. It will go straight up a mountain and haul a load of wood back down everytime (with a few pumps of the brakes), and it reminds me of being a teenager hehe. Split rims, four wheel drum brakes,
2 wheel drive no power steering and a humongous steering wheel that can spin out and break both your wrists if you hit anything with a front tire.
It probably one of my favorite tools!
I collect hand saws, but I have picked up some interesting woodworking stuff along the way. Im still kicking myself for not picking up a very ornate, cast iron compass plane that one guy offered for $70. But I'm not a plane guy. I got a modern block plane and a modern jack plane along with a Bosch door plane. How many planes does I guy need? Four IMO, a block plane, a jack plane, a Bosch door plane and a vintage ornate cast iron compass plane.
But, the guy did sell me a stack of saws for forty bucks. Two of em are nice ones, one is a Richardson 12" backed carcase saw. Slammed it on my work bench till it was straight as a string. Only took three swings.
