I know everyone has heard my story of the civil war camp/ battle site before but I’ll bring it back up on here. I wasn’t much of a firm believer in the paranormal till I saw this but where dad and I detected was a confederate camp that turned in to a battle site as the advancing union approached the farm and numerous confederate and union along with several horses died out in those fields and woods and were buried in makeshift graves out there. While talking to dad about where he was going to go I told him I was gonna go across the property to where the confederate had dug trenches that was almost 160 acres away. As I got to the trench site I began looking along the edges of the mounds and paying close attention to any signal I got. I began to feel very eery like I was being watched. I dug a signal and got my pro pointer out and located the smashed mini ball in the hole. As I looked up I could see someone standing in the distance in the woods watching me. It appeared to be a confederate soldier an older gentleman with full brown beard and with a clean uniform. I thought maybe it was a weird chance I had seen a re-enactor but then realized I’m on private property and this guy looks awfully translucent. I put my headphones down and as I looked back up he was closer. He pointed at something and when I looked that direction and turned back to him he was gone. I high tailed it out of there and ran to where my dad was at which seems like it took forever considering I was making a full on sprint with all my gear and throwing it over barbed wire fences and mission impossible style sliding underneath some of the higher lower strands. I made it to dad and asked him had he found anything as not to alarm him of what I saw or thinking he’d think I was crazy. He said you just asked me that. I said what? He said I heard you over by the trees about 50 yards away ask me had I found anything and I said no. That’s when I told him dad I’ve been on the complete other side of the property up until RIGHT NOW and the only time I asked you that was right this second. Needless to say that’s when he opened up that he felt like someone was watching him earlier and could hear someone talking but he figured it was just me. After that day we pretty much hunted side by side out on that farm.

WOW, You Guys in Arkansas must grow some really high grade stuff there.:laughing7: Just teasing.
I don't subscribe to that Ghostly type stuff but I won't say Hogwash to it either------------I prefer to keep an open mind considering that most of us only have the ability to use a very small portion of our brain.
Thanks for the story,
Marvin

Well, I hunted the grounds of an old State Psychiatric Hospital that was closed in the 90's. It opened in 1903. There were stories of patient abuses. Also numerous suicides. It was said that some of the buildings were haunted.
I remember one time I felt someone watching me from one of the windows. Very weird.

Had a few strange times out. Last weekend near a civil war railroad track I suddenly had the creepy being watched feeling. Stopped and looked around and saw a guy across the railroad bed just staring about 100 yards away. He just takes off and comes straight to me like on a mission. I am in a field on private property with permission so not worried about that but he acts really odd. Gets to me and turns out he was a bit mentally challenged and wanted to know what I was doing. Kinda creepy since I was a long way from most houses. We talk for a minute and then he just wanders back off into the woods. Kinda odd. Another time I was in east Tn on an old farm site. Only building still standing was a barn. Got the creeps with the hair standing up and all each time near the barn. Found out some bad stuff happened in the barn years ago so guess that feeling was legit. Last year went out on the Gettysburg battlefields at night to take some night long exposure shots on a nice clear night. Camera worked fine at the motel and the first stop. Then went crazy and eventually would not work at all. Tried several spots around the main charge area and each time it would malfunction to the point of not even working. Got back to the motel and it worked fine again. Not a cheap camera either and I do lots of night shots in other places with no issues so it is not like I was doing something new. Later I read that it happens a lot and even to a TV crew with multiple cameras.

Funny you say that about the railroad tracks cause where my encounter happened was literally 25 yards from a track that cuts through the woods near the trenches. Granted it wasn’t there during the civil war but wonder if it peaks activity

I routinely detect a site where an airliner crashed in the 40’s , I’ve found bone fragments and teeth but never any ghosties, goulies, or long legged beasties. I’ve even gone there on the exact date and time of the crash hoping to experience something.

I got one but it's not supernatural, just natural (I hope). I was at a scenic area just off the Cherohala Skyway (NC/TN border mountain area) with my friend about 25 years ago. We had parked the car and walked through the woods to a "secret spot" not visible from the road or marked by map or trail. It was an exposed bluff overlooking the valley hundreds of feet below that was a great place to sit with your feet dangling over the edge, smoking a Mexican cigarette and taking in the awesome view. Anyway, this particular visit we arrived late in a fall afternoon and before long it was dusk and then completely dark under a cloudy new moon sky. Still upon the bluff we nervously joked about having to use the cigarette lighter to find our way back (a good 40 or 50 yards uphill) through the woods when we heard the sound of footsteps crunching leaves behind us. The sound grew louder and we heard the snapping of twigs and branches whipping. We both called out hellos and who's there but got no response from the darkness. Man or bear, whoever... whatever IT was - was coming in our direction with a purpose and we sure as hell did NOT want to be on the edge of this small bluff when it arrived. We carefully slid backwards from the edge and oriented ourselves 180 degrees towards the road with the realization we had to cross 50 yards of woods and undergrowth to get to safety. IT was getting nearer, the sound of wood bending and snapping, in my ear. This was no deer, it was a bear. Time to go ! The lighter got dropped in our scramble so the gauntlet was ran in the pitch black, each man for himself, yelling and cursing, running through the dark.
I got there first and got the headlamps on and my buddy came bursting out of the brush next. We both looked like we got ran through a meat grinder from running into trees and caught on thorny vines. We waited for just a few moments to see if we could spot the bear but we must have spooked it with 4 letter words and blasphemies.. we left and never went back to that spot again.

Not sure if this was actually paranormal or not, but it was interesting.

There was this one time last year when I was metal detecting an old abandoned road with a buddy. I heard barking and saw a big loose dog in the distance without an owner in site. The dog was barking with a low growl, and running at me as fast as it could, and didn't look very friendly. I decided to quickly dart off into the woods to the side, in case it was aggressive. My buddy stood there though, having no fear of big loose dogs. He claims he saw an old man standing next to it, and the dog then stopped running and barking at us and then followed the man off onto a little overgrown side trail. The side trail takes you out around a mile through the woods before it intercepts with another old road, and it seems odd that someone would want to take long route right before it was going to get dark. Anyways, I was looking at the trail and at the dog for the majority of the time that this was happening, and didn't see any man. We decided to finish up after that because it was getting dark, and when we got to the parking lot for the old road (now a hiking trail) there was not a single other car parked there. This small parking lot is on a dirt road pretty far from any houses so I would assume that most people would want to drive there. I got into my car and also realized that it was odd that none of us ever even heard the man call for the dog, and I never even saw the man. I doubt that the man was paranormal. I am a skeptic and say that seeing a ghost like that would be a little bit too crazy to be real. There is probably an explanation out there somewhere that would make sense, but crazier things have happened before.

Every once in a while I'll get a real spooky feeling. It's usually a sudden feeling of being watched or not being alone accompanied by a strong breeze or wind that shouldn't have happened at that particular time. I hate it. There isn't much that bothers me and I don't particularly believe in that type of thing but I'll admit that I've had to cut a couple hunts short because of it, but I always go back.

I have always been a little leery of buying things that are on the islands or out west. My logic is that there are objects that can have attachments to them that you may not want in your life. There are spirits that follow objects so it is best to know what you have found or acquired in your travels.
