I started off with a Bounty Hunter as well, I have since moved on and am patiently waiting for my Equinox. But don't listen to some one that tells you it will not work, spend time getting to know your detector do as much reading as you can, and just get out there and have fun, people can tell you what to do but it is extremely rewarding to learn things on your own, you will have some dissappointIng hunts but it is all about time dig everything to start with and you will learn the most, some of the best things I've found were very iffy signals. For me it is a great time to get away from the everyday hassle let in your surroundings be polite and have fun. Good luck.

Thanks larawr. I've been detecting when I was little and this is the same detector I used then. I went the other day and it was read as coins but All I pulled up was rusted flakes of metal
