I'm still spending free time playing around with the detector in hopes of finding jewelry or coins.

I'm starting to keep a record of what I'm digging at specific target IDs. More often than not the IDs vary wildly. Seems like the only ones that don't bounce around a lot are large pieces (larger than coins). It makes me wonder if this detector is capable of making an accurate ID on coin sized objects in the conditions I'm working with. Soon I'm going to bury some coins just to test and see.

These are the only items that had a consistent ID at the site I was detecting yesterday evening -

Throw a selection of various coins on the ground and run the detector over each one taking note of the tone and target ID number and how much thery vary (if any). You can only find whats at the site.

This. I think Loco-digger nailed it,probably the best advice for a new guy like me. (the ID not varying more than 2-3)
