I’m new to metal detecting and I just found this trap with my AT Pro. Was wondering if anyone would know how old it might be. Mid 1900s? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1525641377.018749.jpg

Your trap is known as a double long spring, you can still buy this type today, you can clean off the pan and get info from it. but it still could be hard to date. this type of trap was used in the early 1800s but the chain type( double loop ) shows its alot later. nice find though. if you can give me a name off of it i can help a little.

That's a great find. Did you find it on an old farm?

I found it in a dry creek bed near a lake near my home.
