Shovel ?

Need opinions on shovels. Nothing local other than sharp shooters but none are lightweight. Opinions/recommendations ?

The WW2 shovels are GREAT metal detecting shovels. Personally I use a lesche but they can be quite expensive. If I were you I would order one of those 2 online.

I have a Predator Tools Dixie with ball handle - which is of course discontinued. But if you find something like it you will be happy.

37-1/2" overall so it is like a walking stick in the woods. I think it's less than 2-1/2 lbs. I wouldn't want to dig a foxhole with it - but for a pinpointed target it is the berries.

Who gardens with a shovel like that?

Gardeners use narrow shovels like this as "planting shovels" for landscape trays when planting a bunch of annuals, etc.

These three will solve from woods to manicured lawns

If I can suggest a nice addition to the Model 35, try the two rubber foot pads...IMHO worth the money.

I love my piranha model 35 by lesche or now known as predator tools. He was great to deal with as well. I cant wear that shovel out.

Your welcome. You do not have to spend a hundred bucks on a shovel if it is not in your budget but if you do buy it you will never buy another. I like a long handle for leverage. The 35 mentions I have a rope through the T handle and drag it behind me. i also use it when hiking and pulling myself up a tough ridge.. I drive it in the ground and use it as a step. I used to take an angle grinder and cut down tempered shovels. They would work for awhile. Some detector company sent me a mini shovel but well could not imagine excavating a hole and roots with that. Old timers used the war world 2 folding shovels but you can hack up your target with those. If all else fails get a sharp planting shovel put a file to the edge and have fun.

I myself am considering a Predator 35 Piranha, but I wonder if a Root Slayer Nomad might also fit the bill at well less than half the price. I've no experience with either shovel, but been looking at both.
