Spent most of the summer battling back issues so I didn't get out much and posted less. Spent the last week in the cardiac unit. Angioplasty to assess damage and put stint in coronary artery. Not complaining 100% self inflicted. Just looking to see if other members have been through this and continued to hunt? If so what were your limitations? Winter is almost here so I have months to recover and prepare myself.

I knew a guy who had one and returned to deer hunting in these hills. And that was in the eighties when there was a lot less knowledge. I don't know why you can't get back up to speed if you take care of yourself.
My sister-in-law's dad had bypass surgery when he was sixty and lived an active life up into his nineties also.

my Brother in Law Just went through a Stint, 2 weeks ago.
Spent Less then a Week, 3 or 4 Days in the Hospital.

I asked him How he felt on Saturday, Said as far as He's concerned, he's healed.

The beginning of this Year, (late march, I Think) I had Congestive Heart Failure.
and a Quadruple Bypass. Not the Same thing, But all my pain yet is in the Upper right
part of my Rib Cage.
I Think my Rib squeezes against the Meaty Whatever Behind My rib.
Using my Detector (I'm Right handed) may have caused it :dontknow:
But in my case, Insead of Suiting up to Detect, Crossing the Highway & Having to stop,
Catch My Breath & Let the Pain go away,

I can now Suit up, Walk across a Football field, Take a deep Breath And start Detecting if I want.
But Again, I still feel Like I have a Broken Rib
Or severe Bruise upper right part of my Chest.

And Back Pain, which I Had before, But seems to have Increased after Rehab.

On Rehab, I should have said No, No, No ! like Amy Winehouse :tongue3:

I've had three "Cardiac Events," and now have 12-stents in my arteries. It's GOOD to get back out and exercise with your machine. Detect till you drop Brother!! :icon_thumright:

Can't relate to the stint, but know people that have them and they
are active folks.

Jeff, I can definitely understand about the ribs! Woke up yesterday,
and knew right away something was wrong as every time I moved
it felt like I was being stabbed in the bottom left rib..

Like anyone who's been smoking cigs for over 40 years, I cough,
and apparently while sleeping I coughed myself right into a separated rib..:BangHead:

Right now, I'll do anything to keep from coughing even once, or just
moving the wrong way and tightening my stomach muscles...it's excruciating.

I wouldn't pick up my detector right now..let alone swing it! :censored:

that was one thing after about 3 weeks in rehab,
The girl had me get someone to bring my Explorer in.
and she took me outside so she could prove to me my detecting days weren't over.

All I did was Walk around the Lawn Swinging it
because I Had no Battery pack with :( But it was a Great Mental Exercise.

was also Funny someone else thought she was chasing me around trying to get me to stop Detecting the Property :laughing7: Nosey People :unhappysmiley:

Couple of stints put in last November. I was lucky and got in early enough to where no damage was done, so I haven't noticed any slow down in my detecting except for work getting in the way.

Damn Terry!

Thanks to everyone for the information. Now I have to retrain myself. I forgot to mention that I picked up two permissions from hospital staff. Can't let them go to waste!

5 stents back in 2013, have 30% heart function, I've slowed down, but still going. I figure as long as I don't see dirt when I wake up it's going tobe a good day.
