Anyone here remember the Diving Horse on Atlantic City's Steel Pier ?

Piers and boardwalks use to be magical for kids back then. I wonder if they have the same effect on kids today?

I remember Dayton Beach Boardwalk, pier and carnival rides. As junior high crossing patrolmen if we were good all year (which was freaking hard to accomplish) we got a one week free trip to Dayton Beach. On our trip we were driven down there by the city police chief and owner of the Ford dealership. They dropped us off in a rented home 3 blocks from the beach and we did not see them till a week later when it was time to go home. Did the eight of us boys have a blast? No supervision. You bet. best vacation in my whole life. What did our escorts do that week? One can only speculate.

I have photographs my mother took there of the diving horses in the 50s. After being closed for years, Trump bought it and reopened it as an arcade and amusement ride pier since it was almost directly across from the Taj Mahal Casino.

Ya Jeff I saw the horse and bell many times but do you remember Mr Peanut on display across from Steel Peer . That was the good old days. Life was easy. 2 hot dogs for 25 cents. Or Lucy the Elephant .

Yep ! I used to have a set of Plastic Mr. Peanut Salt & Pepper Shakers from down there.
most likely were originally my Moms. Sold them at Yard sale a few years ago.

not the same pair unless that's where they ended up.



used to always bring back Salt Water Taffy every Year Too.

I Don't remember seeing the Elephant,
Though I Do Remember Dad taking us by car to see Something.
