Hold onto them as Copper prices will rise once again to high levels and folks will purchase Copper Cents in bulk. The guy that was buying them, was apparently melting them down and selling them as blobs, bars or rounds which is illegal. We can sell our' Copper Cents to anyone we want as long as we don't melt them down. Bulk lots of Copper Cents have and probably do still fetch decent prices on eBay but I don't do eBay anymore, so I have to find another way to sell them or wait until Uncle Sam lifts the Ban on melting them down.

Yes, I do. I have two jars on my bureau. One for modern pretend cents and the other for pre-82 to post wheat.

Don't know why, but I do separate them. Occasionally I roll up the post 82 and deposit them in my credit union.

Some 82's are all copper also. Can tell the difference by weighing. Copper 3.2 grams mix 2.5 grams

Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it. I believe metals prices will remain stagnant the rest of our lifetimes, as we know all markets are rigged today. I do hoard the copper wheats, I like the design it’s so nostalgic.

Yes, I save the copper ones, I save '81 and before, and have for years.

I can't think of a reason why not to.

I also drop one at a time on the hard top table and listen for the "ring" of a copper cent opposed to the "thud" of a zinc cent.

Test by trying this with a pre 1982 cent, then a post '82 cent.
But keep the scale handy for those that will be hard to judge by the sound.

Some folks say that they can feel the weight difference in their hands, but not me.
Good luck

I do. Zincolns get spent or into coin jar. Coppers go into separate 2 litre soda bottle.
Drives my wife crazy when I bounce the 82's. Sometimes I bounce all of them instead of putting my glasses on.
Probably a waste of time saving them, but I can't help myself.

I just separate my change. I don't buy boxes and go through them. Still, I have hundreds of them!

I only save the wheat cents. The zincolns and copper cents go in a large coffee can. When full, all of it goes to the coinstar.
