UGH!!! Didn’t get the job....kicks to the gut and more.

What a beautiful day here in Garrett County....
Then the phone rang.
Bad news.
My wife calls to inform me that the sill plate/foundation beneath my house needs to be either replaced or repaired. My realtor went on vacation for two weeks and gave this information to her partner, but they “forgot” to include it in the list of repairs based on the inspection report.
The buyer want a list of things FIXED, not credited. I’ve already dropped 6k for everything we knew about, and now, 3 weeks before closing, gotta drop another $5,500 to have it taken care of to satisfy the buyer. He’s already threatened to back out if things aren’t right.
Awesome.
So just as I was ready to hang up, I’m getting a call from Morgantown.
I answered the phone to hear the lovely voice of Amanda, informing me that the company has decided to go with another candidate, and thank you for coming in for the interview.
Really? I just drove 1,100 miles for this gig, knowing that I am by far qualified and perfect for their position. The smarmy millennial who interviewed me had me thinking I was a lock.
Awesome.
So I call my mother to fill her in on all the crap I’m dealing with, she lets me bleed my heart out for a few minutes, and finishes the conversation by informing me that my Uncle’s fiancé died last night of a massive heart attack.
Awesome.

So I’ve got a bunch of applications and resumes out within a 50 mile radius, been looking for months, but have nothing lined up. Gotta drive back to FL Saturday am at the latest, and it’s gonna rain like hell the whole trip.

Grrrrr....

Sorry to hear that. I would not be surprised if it were your age that got you. I interviewed for a job here last year and absolutely had no doubts the job was mine until the interviewer slipped up and told me they were looking for a younger person to replace an older gentleman in his late 50s who was planning on retiring within the next 5 years. I wish i had a recorder on me at the time! Age discrimination does exist!
