Afternoon all,

My husband and I are going to visit upstate South Carolina this week. We want to do some gold panning but googling the legal places to hop off the side of the road into a creek is proving almost impossible to find. We won't be dredging or using machinery of any kind, just pans. Can anyone help pinpoint a town or area where it would be ok for us to do this without red tape or fear of being criminals?

Oconee state park, the river runs right thru it. I’ve never panned for gold there. Also I heard the Tyger River is another good spot. Hope that helps.
