Minelab 800 EQ question

So i purchased a 800 EQ and i love it so much but i purchased the wireless module too and i find it does not work the best for me i lose signal alot to the detector and have been missing targets if i am not looking at my screnn, so my big question if anyone else has a 800 can i just plug in like ghosts or earbuds to the back and still submerge the unit or is that a no no.
