That had to be hard news for you. It is sincerest hope, and prayer, that your friend finds out he was misinformed; and will be back out in the field with you, for a good long time.

would they allow you to hunt the nursing home grounds...? Im always on the positive :laughing7:

It is tough , but also very thoughtful. The important thing here is to actually USE them and enjoy everything in the spirit in which it was given.

Bittersweet.
Maybe if your friend does go into a home you can sneak him out once a week ,or month?
Visits are good , but outings can be a bright spot sometimes. Even minor ones only for a change of view...

We opened one of Dads caches a little while back after he passed.....A lifetime of detecting recoveries, coin sorted finds ,silver swapped for clad when clad started , a couple long noted eyeball finds , ( found in the 30's or 40's probably) ect..

We would rather have Dad than his relics. That's just not an option though...
Have not noticed his old detector around , but have not looked very far either.

ya gonna sell em or let em sit in a closet til they become your cache?

Sadly, what "we" collect might not interest our supposed heirs and they'll give em away to clear the clutter basically having no clue.

How much for the Sov?

He suggested I Could Sell them, However the 2 Whites Don't work.
There are Many Coils & Rods as you can see. I Haven't checked, But I'd guess most are for the Spectrum.
The Spectrum turns on but the Screen needs replaced. or a Brand new 4DB coil

The 4DB turns on. full Steady tone, I Can check the Battery Strength, But can't get it to recognize metal yet. I only tried in the Living room so far.
but it should have at least Wavered in its single tone steadiness . May not have something set right

Would be a Great Cache for a Whites Repair Person.
or Whites Owner who needs coils & Stems for a Spectum.

I've been missing My Sovereign for Searching Swimming Pools.
Because it was Killer on Gold Jewelry.
Ever since it gave me issues I Never quite Trusted it any more.
I Just shipped everything From that one, Including the Extra Coils
& Sunray Probes to my Nephew To store away for Me till I Figure out what to do with it all.

So The Brand New Sovereign Is Not for Sale.
I Would Need an Offer I Can't refuse, Which would be Outrages.
Trust Me :laughing7:

The One that's Converted to Chest/shoulder Mount I'd consider Except
I'm House Bound, No Vehicle, & Hate Shipping Packages & Worrying,
will he be satisfied, Will It even Get there in one piece. will I Regret it.
& even How Much will it cost to Ship, is it worth it.

There is tons of Gear too. even Snake Chaps

But as I Told Mike. The only way I would sell anything is Face to Face right here

Sorry !

I should have my car by next spring (Fingers Crossed)
at that point I'll break some of the Stuff out.

I hope he's jumpin the gun and throwin in the towel a little too quick. Still, good idea to give the stuff you really care about to a friend or family so the state don't take it to pay for your nursing home vacation rental. That is a good idea about detecting the nursing home grounds, though. (And it just dawned on me, it ain't correct to call them nursing homes anymore, but I don't think I offended anybody.)

That is an awesome gesture, and shows that the two of you must have had some really good times together hunting.

He seems like a really good friend he will still be around. My wife's Grandpa went into one at 93 but it was the best place for him and made lots of friends

I wish him (and you) the best. Even though he wont be able to hunt with you any longer, I'm sure he will appreciate your visits and stories of the items you still find. I know I would. Anything Treasure Hunting related, will keep his spirits high. Even if you bring him a new Treasure magazine or book to read every now and then, it will keep him going.

Nursing homes suck. My mom died in one because they neglected her and refused to take her to the doctor for almost 2 years and when they finally did she was told that she had cancer and when she died no one in my family was told anything for months. They didn't have a funeral or anything, they burned her like a stray dog. I'm fighting that state to get my grandmother and uncle out of that same nursing home because they are being mistreated just as bad as my mom was and that state is a big reason they are there because APS forced them into the nursing home under false pretenses and the state did nothing about it despite being called hundreds of times by my family and our attorneys and lying to us every time saying that they were going to do something about it.
