Here is a description from one of the 80 acre ads:

This is a legally registered, 80 acre gold Mining Claim for sale. $7000, $1000 DP then paying $500 per month for 12 months, or $7500 paying $500 for 15 months.
A signed contract will precede payment. After receiving final payment, your ownership of the 80 acre claim will be legally recorded with the local Bureau of Land Management and Jackson County. The quit claim deed is the correct document to be recorded for a mining claim, as stated by the BLM. This is not a sharing with others of your 80 acre claim.
Mining Claims as an investment: if you purchase a claim from us, at no charge, I would help you if you ever decided to sell in the future.
Mining Claims are a great investment, as claims go up in value over time, just as land does.
This is an historical area for gold prospecting, on the Illinois River, near the town of Rand, south of Gould, CO, and 45 minutes from the town of Walden.
Owning a mining claim is having access to a lifetime of great family fun and recreation, in a very beautiful, natural setting.
This is a 80 acre unpatented, gold mining placer claim, the Illinois River Gold #12 and #13, with beautiful Illinois River running thru the claims, and is in Jackson County, Colorado, in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and the Routt National Forest. The claims are legally registered with the Bureau of Land Management out of Lakewood, CO and Jackson County. You own the mineral rights, not sharing with others, on the 80 acres, and use your 80 acres recreationally for camping and prospecting in an awesome, beautiful area. Great secluded valley, with flatter claim areas for camping. Easy walk to the river from the road.
With an approved BLM Plan of Operation, a building could be built on the land: any building that benefits and improves the claim. Current usage, is what the BLM calls, Casual Use: panning, shovel, rock hammer, metal detector.
On trips to the claim I gathered in and around the river, approx. 1/4 of an ounce of gold on each claim, being worth about $300 per claim. Someone with more time may find more. Gold prices are over $1200/ounce. Though we could never guarantee what you will find, we did locate this claim in an historically rich area for gold prospecting.
40 acres = 1320 ft. x 1320 ft.
The Federal Government owns the land.
You are purchasing the mineral rights.
Prospect, explore, on the whole 80 acres.
You can camp on a claim while prospecting.

About an hour to Rocky Mountain National Park and less than an hour from the WY border. The claim location monument has a 4 foot wooden post near the river, with copy of Location Notice attached, as required by the Colorado BLM.
The river on the claim is a unique advantage for gold prospecting. Gold always occurs in gravels in the metallic state and when so found has various physical characteristics. Gold is dense and heavy, it has a characteristic metallic color, and it is soft and easily malleable (it is easily formed by hammering). These are the characteristics used by prospectors to identify gold in the field.
Your 80 acres is the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 27 and the NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 26, Township 5 North, Range 77 West, 6th Prime Meridian, known as the Illinois River Gold #12 and #13 mining claims, in the Rocky Mountains. CMC293837 and CMC293838

About 2 1/2 hours NW of Denver. Take I70 West out of Denver, then 40 West, to Highway 125 north in Grand County into Jackson County. Take road 211 North to FR 740 East, and continue onto FR 750, which is the claim road, which will continue south using GPS coordinates below to the claim.
Meadow and cleared camping spots on claim. Free gold panning kit
