I have a 1942 Nickel with no mint. It has a very unique mark on the tail side of it. I am on a I phone 6 and can not figure out how to load it up on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Does it have a letter above Monticello on the reverse? If so, which letter? P? D? S? Mint mark on reverse, above Monticello indicates what are commonly referred to as “war nickels”. 35% silver alloy. Please refer to any guidebook for details.
Thank you for posting the image. Now I am embarrassed. Prior to posting the image, I has assumed the “unique mark” on the reverse referred to the mint mark.
The mark you refer to is a gouge, probably from a rolling machine.
