Those are road names and some other info that might give things away to people familiar with the area that I live in, and also some other info from the server. Hey, a guy's gotta have SOME secrets!

Well it can help to leave them out but I live in New York and have never been to that area and I found it.

Here is a pic with out the names or the black smudges. I added scale too.
To bad I don't live in that area, it would be a great place to hunt.

I know of an old racetrack in Pittsburgh.......anyone wantin' to give it a try better be well armed, a not so nice, run down neighborhood now.

I went to hunt this old race track near me from the 50's & there were squatters living there!

There are probably tons of goodies around those buildings too.

I tried playing with the colors on Irfanview to bring out any faint lines but I don'e really see much that will help.

Ok. For some reason I could not post the picture the way I had intended.
There is a free download called Irfanview. Go to google and type that in. With Irfanview I have been able to play with the colors enhancement mode and bring out details in photos that otherwise I might have missed. I took your photo to irfanview and did so and saved it to desktop. When I posted it here, the only thing that came out was trhe ORIGINAL picture not the one I had changed. DOwnload Irfanview and play with it. I didn't really see anything, however, that I could point to and say "LOOK HERE."

Looks like a great place to hunt. No doubt you should find some goodies. Overgrowth on these type of sites are the major obstacles. Tall grassy areas are better done in early spring. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yea, to some extent. I don't know why mine from irfanview didn';t come out. With the Irfanview software you can lighten darken, grayscale and turn to negative. Sometime you can see faint lines not seen in the original. I don't really see much in this picture.

Yeah but like I said there's like an 8" layer in the open spots of organic matter that has accumulated since it stopped being used.That's before you get to the dirt. My 4+ years of experience with my Explorer XS is that it likes old, dense, undisturbed soil and it works best when you scrub. I haven't tried my CZ-5 or 1236-X2 in here yet. Early spring is when I hunt the open areas as you suggested. I haven't spent too much time in the wooded parts. I think I'll concentrate more in those areas after the grass grows higher. The pines to the north used to be part of the fairground too. There's talk of the township buying the whole 40 acre lot. I don't know what they have planned for it but I hear it may become park-land. Maybe there'll be some clearing/tilling involved. Of course then it'll become public too, but 40 acres takes a LONG time to hunt out.
