Anyone thought about stealth detecting?

Don't want to do anything illegal, but sometimes I just don't want people to be watching me.

Thought of mounting the detector on rollers or maybe a baby stroller, find coins and mark the spot with a golf tee.
Then go back with the pin-pointer after a few minutes.
Ideas??

Problem is, anything other than outright, plain old detecting will look suspicious and actually get more scrutiny and a possible visit from the gendarmes.

I can just visualize a baby stroller going back and forth trying to get an accurate read and people wondering....
Hmmm .... "That's odd. What is that person doing to that child? They're going to make him/her throw up."

(I can tell your question is serious but I have to play with this a little. Don't take it wrong and hope you're ok with it.)
Instead of flags, a can of orange marker paint strapped to the undercarriage with a trigger mechanism. Orange connect-a-dots would be totally inconspicuous!

And the look on the baby's face, something like this?

Just play a loud recording of a weed whacker full volume.

or

Wear nice office pants, shirt, necktie, hardhat, safety glasses, and small backpack. Carry a clip board and GPS, and occasionally write something. Put up red caution tape around the area.

:)

That is possibly the silliest idea I have heard of in years. The more you try to "hide" the more you are going to stand out. If you dont want people to see you, go where there are no people. Otherwise you are going to have to suck it up and stop worrying about it peoples eyeballs.

As soon as you try to "hide" in a public place I GUARANTEE someone will call the police.

If it’s such a big deal then stay out in the woods. Hard to be seen there, or buy something my brother has, and get out there with a ghillie suit, and just blend in with the brush in the parks

My Stealth Mode is just as far away from people as I can - give them their space.
If I'm closer to them, I will put my pinpointer on vibrate mode, and my main machine,
is always hooked-up to headphones anyway - I try to be courteous, and answer questions in honest, humble way.

To get around restrictions on metal detecting the "Sheep Meadow," in NYC's Central Park, I sawed the ears on a Tesoro 11" Eliptical coil off, and taped it to the bottom of my no metal sneaker. Because of the coil wire, I could only tape about 1/2 of the coil, with the wire inside my trousers, up to the Vaquero control box in my jacket pocket. The tape lasted about two-hours, and when I got a target, I would simply sit down with my back to folks and dig the plug.

I pulled this off three times, and it was most successful. I still use this set up now and again at "off limits" County Parks. Does this make me a bad person?:skullflag:
