My friend just compared me to Moses...should I be offended

Moses was a cool dude. Me, not so much. So here goes another true story. About 40 minutes ago I go to get ready for bed and no water! We have had maybe 4-5 inches of rain today. The creek here is flooding pretty badly! (Maybe some gold will come out.)

So...I turn the outside lights on and go outside. I have a rectangular "well house" which goes about 5' underground where I have a standard run of the mill well pump hiding for the house's water. The IDIOT PLUMBER, last time he was here, LEFT THE SUMP PUMP IN THE WELL HOUSE TURNED OFF.

I have 3' of water in there and the pump is 18" under water. They are not supposed to live under water.

So, like Moses, I get my stick out. And a mighty stick it is! I ain't goin' down no well house with the ZZAAAPPP electricity!

I take said stick and flip the switch on. The sump works (2500 gph) and starts pumping the water out! I also turned the well pump off!

It sucks the water out and I take said almost magical Moses stick and flip the well pump back ON. AND IT WORKS!

Not supposed to do that! Shallow water jet pumps are NOT submersible.

So I call my friend (I had called them to let them know I was doing something really dumb, in the dark, in the misty rain, with water and electricity and if I didn't call back in an hour, call 911.) My friend asks me if I used my "Moses stick". I said yeah, but it's actually a hoe.

Worse thing is I sucked a bug up my nose...and it could have been worse as the plumber would have been another $1k tomorrow.

Only me, only me.

Yes, thank God I didn't bellow like a Moose and do a victory dance down the road. 64 year old fart doing that would have had the SWAT team visiting me!

Still works ok this morning. Some of those Chinese pumps work very well.

It sounds like You may not need this but if the pump trips the breaker all is not lost. the motor can be taken apart and dried with a 60 watt bulb stuck into the winding's and left to cook a few days
once dry can be put back into service.

Throw that staff down and see if it turns into a serpent. Also, next time bring a buddy that knows how to perform CPR. Glad that it worked out I’ve had to pull, and repair, multiple well pumps in my day, it sucked, pun intended, every time.
