Bacon, how much is it in your neck of the woods?

I switched to thinly fried Spam, fraction of the price and tastes similar to bacon, many different flavors and lasts forever.

Friends moved to Hawaii for retirement and sent pics of their grocery store's Spam selections - wow, an entire aisle of Spam! They also sent me a care package of a case of 12 cans of Spam, all different varieties. Included with the case was an etched Spam wine glass - which I always use when we have company to embarrass the wife, and a Spam air freshener.

If you can find it later in the year (I could not, but these friends sent me a can), I recommend the pumpkin spice seasonal spam flavor.

My father used to catch snapping turtles and kept them penned in the yard. I kept an eye on their number and when one was missing, I would not be hungry that evening. But good luck with your recipe.

Once read a scientific paper in a medical journal reporting reduction of sky-high lead levels in a live snapper with chelation therapy. Seeing the "before" lead levels in the turtle validated my youthful objection to eating turtle meat.
