This post is to show why you shouldn't leave if someone was there before you. I followed a recent detectorist as you can see in the photos. They had pulled plugs everywhere. I found a one dollar loony in their trail. There finds are the brown patches in the grass. They also left all the trash in their holes. If you dig it, take it it home.

And guess what... a guy with a equinox will come in behind you and find all the stuff you missed...

Exactly toecutter. That is the purpose of this post. Don't get discouraged if someone has been there before you. I found many coins in their trail. We just had some rain so the soil was damp about an inch. They didn't have that. It's been dry here.

Toecutter. Then, a guy with 1980's machines comes in and finds stuff you missed with the fancy new EQ800.

I have yet to dig a mercury dime over a foot deep with ANY of my new machines.

Ill go to your sites and get the stuff you missed too...son!!...lol

Anything's possible. You might find gold at one of my sites, since I do get sick of digging endless pull tabs. Silver coins or jewelry? No way.

Don't hijack my post to have a ....ing contest. It's not about the tool you have. It's about not being discouraged if someone was there before you. Supposed to be a inspirational, educational post.

I gave my brother a quick demonstration in my front yard with my AT pro. Hit two signals I figured were pennies and didn't dig them as we were short time. A few weeks later, I thought I'd go dig them. Couldn't get a signal and I knew right where they were. It was now bone dry and "things changed" with the signals. I was surprised and I'm thinking the wetter the better. ??? Gary

Absolutely Todd the moisture helps the signal penetrate the ground, when I detect in the river the pennies sound super loud and ring up like a silver coin from the ground...
