I generally/loosely refer to such as "the accident of birth", we select nothing and yet we would be proud?

Helps to know that all this mayhem has happened before this time is no different. Things will swing back and settle down at least after November 3rd regardless of its outcome. MAYBE

Yep.
My Mom was born in 1919, her Mom about 15 yrs before that,
and her Mom, about 15 years before that... I didn't come along till the '60's,
but learned much from all of them. It was a different world then...
