Sorry, you had to go through that! Not sure how I would react in the same situation.

Not to take away from the OP's thread but....

I'm a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I'm curious to hear your ideas on how they should handle their policy in light of the mass shootings that have taken place in their stores?

I remember a local flea market had an incident about 10 years ago where a customer bought a gun at one booth (when openly displayed gun sales were allowed there). He got into a heated dispute and went to another booth to buy ammo. Luckily the second seller was aware of the conflict and refused to sell him the ammo. The customer left after someone called the sheriff but it sure put the place on pins and needles after that. The policy at the flea market changed after that incident. No gun sales openly offered or conducted on-site after that. (They have since been bought out and it is now a new car lot.)

last time i was at wallmart was for shoes. I needed to buy in person because I wasn't sure on Size

Last Time Before this I Had to Buy 14's Because of a swollen foot from a break.

occasionally I used to get asked by old geezers for my receipt. who needed to look busy I guess,
As they would watch me Check Out, Glance at the Receipt so Fast they only had time to see it was a walmart tape.
    with words on it.
Then would hand it Back & say Have a Nice day !
of which I'd Scowl and respond "I would have, if I wasn't just accused of stealing "

I think they Single me out Because I almost always wear Shirts that will Offend someone,
or Draw their attention to Me.
I Probably look as Old or Older then Them.

yes I think if you complain to the manager they give you a gift card. at least I heard one Walmart did.
I think you Gotta Feign Embarrassment from the others seeing you being Shook Down.
I never wasted time to try here .

I Just Complain Loudly as I leave !

The only time Walmart harasses is me is when I buy cat litter, since I tell them not to put it in a plastic bag. They always scrutinize the receipt to be sure I paid for my $1.35 bag of litter! Morons...

Here in Connecticut we have a tax on plastic bags so if someone purchases only a few small items and doesn't want to pay the tax on the plastic bag they carry items out in their hand. If you pay the tax and buy a bag you can walk out without being checked. If you carry the items out without a bag they stop you. If you use the self checkout you need to use your card and I'm not using a credit card for a loaf of bread and some milk or whatever so I buy my items elsewhere.

I Would never pay For a bag. At Aldies I Take my Groceries out in the Cart, Or take empty Boxes to use,
    As I walk the Isle.

If I Had to pay a Tax on a Plastic Bag, I'd let it blow away in the Parking lot Just for Spite.

NO I Don't Litter & Have a Distaste for it.
But if I had to pay for plastic I'd let it there.
if it was mandatory I'd figure mine to protest with by littering it

There was one main incident that had taken place in Texas that caused the national controversy.

On August 3, 2019, a mass shooting occurred at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, United States. A gunman shot and killed 23 people and injured 23 others. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime.

I do not believe the ammo or weapon was from Walmart sales. If that same individual had gone to the garden center and purchased ammonia nitrate fertilizer and used it in a bomb with similar results, Do you think that they would just close all garden centers in the US?

The anti 2nd amendment crowd pushed the Walmart management to take some action, which they did. They later quietly modified that announcement to allow certain items to be back on the shelf.

This made the trip to the local Target store more enjoyable. My reaction would be to go after the offender and not the source of the items used. If your family got wiped out in a car accident by a new Cadillac, would you go after the dealer that sold that car to the offender?

Here in Connecticut, being old and ugly, now that we have to buy bags again, my driver forgets bags, so I go out with the item loose. Same thing with ShopRite.

Additionally, I don't believe that if someone has too much to drink and then gets in an accident while driving the bartender should be held accountable.

    I'm not answering for Bow...

Around here stores don't sell ammo to a gun buyer that same time , (Day?) Usually.
Not uncommon to either be escorted to checkout with ammo , or ammo taken to a checkout and you are given the checkout/registers number.

Walmart got rid of handgun ammo near me. I bought boxes for half off regular price. How that prevents abuse of firearms I don't know....

Nothing like unarmed victims to make the potential for mass shootings worse in my opinion.
I don't relish the idea of having to defend my life by killing someone. I'd rather do that than let someone shoot me without my having a chance to ruin their life too though.
So I'm armed at Walmart. And many other places.
If Walmart wants to be unarmed , and or not sell guns or ammo , that's on Walmart.Like many businesses , they cannot insure my safety simply by the products they sell ,or don't sell. I take some responsibility for my being able too ensure some degree of safety (well at least some defense against maniacs trying to kill me anyways) in certain conditions.
    It's a crazy world sometimes.

I hardly go to Walmart but when I do I offer my receipt to the person at the door and they have never asked to see it or my goods. There is more to this story than what is being told.

The fertilizer and car analogies don't work. Big difference. You can't stop selling fertilizer or cars because some pinhead is going to turn it into a deadly weapon. The overwhelming majority of people use those two items responsibly. But guns have one purpose, to kill someone or something. We can assume anyone who buys one is thinking about killing someone or something with it. Whether it's to kill for food, in self-defense or out of anger, that's why they bought it. That's why many stores are taking a hard line on guns. Hard to make excuses to the grieving families of victims when you're selling an item whose sole purpose is to take a life. Just my take on it...
