Buy from a reputable dealer, not the independent hucksters. The prices on name brand detectors are very consistent across the board. Everybody prices everything, like pinpointers, within a few dollars of each other. If you want one, you have to pay that price. Used from the public, like everything else, let the buyer beware.

I sold one used on another forum and the buyer asked me to text him a pic of the bottom (where the serial number is). I don't know exactly how, but presumably you can verify this with Garrett to determine if it is genuine.
