Fossil skull ? Need help identifying

A friend collected the item pictured.

Is it a fossilized skull? It was collected in west central Missouri.

This is my first time posting...so hoping I do this correctly.

There's something going on here, but I can't reconcile the piece with maybe antler bits with the piece that does show some bilateral symmetry. Are there two objects in these images?

I'm thinking it may be the cast from the cavity inside a skull. Teh calcium of the skull eventually eroded away without fossilizing - leaving the "mold" to harden into rock. Maybe. But only if there are two objects in these images.

From looking at your last photo your specimen looks like a eroded fossil coral stems in matrix. That is what I am visualizing from your photos.

Natural, unusual stone. It's appearance has been enhanced with the use of a flat tipped tool ( screwdriver ). You can see the marks most clearly, shaping that dividing line.
Clay Diggins and BillA like this.

"And so the population was gradually led into the demoralising temptations of arcades, baths, and sumptuous banquets. The unsuspecting Britons spoke of such novelties as 'civilisation', when in fact they were only a feature of their enslavement." Tacitus, Roman Senator and Historian, written AD 98.

The Bald Eagle photo...he/she posed for me, gave me it's best American look. I felt privileged to get the shot.

Calcium based stones but maybe small fossel which is very degraded in your bottom photo from the same strata. How many inches or feet down was that last one dug?
