Sorry to say it is just deliberately damaged, looks as though it was squeezed between a couple of other coins.

As previously mentioned it’s a fake . I wouldn’t bother .

It is amazing how useful pennies are in the shop. Many times I have used them for temporary spacers, shims, etc. Cheap. Easy. Available. This is what your penny looks like.

If you still believe the damage to your coin is due to a mint error, please take it to a coin shop that has an owner or employee familiar with errors.

Time for more coffee.

How would I go about getting it authenticated? If possible.
You can have it looked at by one of the third party graders, PCGS or NGC, but you would be spending 30 to 50 dollars to be told the same thing we have told you here. It is definitely just intentional damage to the coin, no question.
