That's quite a list Treasure Hunter.

I've only been to Glacier, Arches and Canyon, Badlands, and T. Roosevelt, but I am much, much younger than you. :laughing7:

I might cross The River and drive out to the northwest coast next summer, in which case it is mandatory that I revisit Glacier. Glacier is awesome. Last time I was there in July to fish MacDonald Lake. Took the Red Bus White Motorcoach to the top where people were downhill sking and snowboarding- in July.

ETA- Oh, and Great Smokey. Didn't really stop at that one. Nice drive and it saves a heck of a lot of time to go around.

That is big list Iā€™ve been to several the big names. Scottsbluff monument on the Oregon trail is a neat spot.
When I was young you could use your migratory waterfowl stamp for entry pass, your Duck stamp. I think itā€™s way too expensive to drive across Yellowstone, they hardly remove anything that falls on road like a tree, they donā€™t mow. $35 to drive threw and eat lunch has become take a different route around and look at the trees right beside that road. Bison hate selfies anyways.

Visiting and observing Arches during the height of tourist season killed any desire I might have had to ever visit another one, and God forbid camp in one. But I encourage everyone to enjoy their National Parks, as that leaves the backcountry more open for me.

You haven't been to the only one I've been to...Smoky Mtn. Park. Gary

Not sure how it was left off the list, camped twice in Smokey Mountain NP, once in the winter 1970, once in the summer 1972.

Many of my camping trips were in the fall and winter, no crowds... Camped a lot in Utah, it is my favorite state.

On the 7 week vacation I took, roommate and I drove into Yellowstone NP on Labor day, we were the only vehicle entering the South entrance to the park, all the other vehicles were leaving. On one trip we entered Yosemite NP in the early spring from the west, on the first day the highway through the park was opened to the east side, massive snow drifts. Another winter trip we drove from Grand Junction to Durango on Hwy 550 in January with drifts 20 foot high.

We did multiple winter camping trips to the South West, use to do a lot of winter camping in a van, had Coleman heater with us and left the windows open about 6 inches for fresh air. We turned it off when we went to sleep and fired it up in the morning. Best part of winter camping is you don't have to worry about keeping your food cold....LOL

It wasn't as expensive then as now, also we had a season pass, it was only $10.00 then. Now I have a senior lifetime pass, $80.00 for lifetime pass, gets you in all National parks and all federal recreation areas. A regular yearly pass that includes all National Parks federal recreation area is $80, if you visit 3 parks in a year it has paid for itself. Pass gets you and everyone in the vehicle in.

Impressive list. Living out west all my life I've visited many of the National Parks in California, Utah, Wyoming and Oregon.

Arizona: The Grand Canyon

California: Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park (I worked at a resort near there for two summers when I was in college). Death Valley, The Redwoods, Sequoia and Kings Canyon, Muir Woods, Yosemite. I camped at all of these except for Death Valley.

Utah: Golden Spike National Park (visited), Capitol Reef (visited), Zions (camped), Bryce Canyon (visited). Utah also has several State parks that I've visited and camped in. Including Dead Horse and Goblin Valley. I would recommend Goblin Valley and Dead Horse to anyone visiting Utah. Not nearly as crowded as the big name National Parks here.

Wyoming: Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone. We camped at both

Oregon: Crater Lake (visited)

Washington: Olympic National Park (visited)

Montana: Glacier National Park (camped)

Colorado: Rocky Mountain National Park. As a small boy I lived in a small mountain town called Bailey south of there.

Back east I drove through Shenandoah on a business trip. It was beautiful, but I didn't have time to really check things out..

And as a graduation present from high school my Dad and Mom took my brother and I on a month long camping trip through Canada. We went up through Glacier National Park to Lake Louise and then headed west at a very leisurely pace through British Columbia and ending on Vancouver Island. Beautiful country. My Dad was a serious outdoors man all his life and this trip and others instilled in me a love of the outdoors. The further from civilization the better :)

Unfortunately a number of these parks I visited when I was quite a bit younger than I am now. Now a days it's mostly Utah parks and byways.
