Hello everyone,

I am looking for tips from experts on how to clean my new find - a bayonet! I want to keep it for myself and I'm going to clean it properly.

I've gently tapped the screws at the liners - I have to also tap the nuts on the other side because the screw turns with the nut. Just in case, I already bought replicas with screws.

At the beginning I sprayed some fluid similar to WD40 and gently rubbed off the first layer of rust. For the second part of, so to say maintenance, I thought to buy CX80 rust remover and after removing the liners, put the bayonet into a container filled with a rust remover. Would that work?

electrolysis is how most of us conserve iron relics. do some research on the subject here on Treasurenet.
you asked for an expert , well I'm not an expert at anything in life, but I did what everyone called a fine job on a civil war sward I found .
I did my research here and took my time . scroll down the page and you'll find
