I've never owned a pair that really worked for the purpose or that I liked wearing. I've tried rubber coated, neoprene, treated nylon, etc.

Probably the closest were Frogg Toggs Neoprene. They were waterproof, semi-warm but didn't hold up to digging. I do still have a pair I wear for April fishing and I add Terramar glove liners for a bit more warmth. I have Carhartts that are warm and waterproof, but too bulky for the purpose.

I've used many different types of dipped cotton that give a semi water proof effect and usually trend to an insulated version for he early spring/late fall hunting. I have used these-and still do if it's really cold and wet but find recovery a tad difficult, also with hand warmers the fingers might sweat and then removing the hand the inner liner will stick to fingers then it's a round dowel to realign the liner into the finger sockets. This happens with many insulated if the hands get damp though.

Gore-tex is another choice, but the cost and the wear and tear one puts on the gloves is questionable.
Found that for the money $10 more or less these types are pretty good.
