My method for woodchips tot lots

Just thought I update you after two more days of testing the treasure baron with goldtrax module.

I keep hitting the same target area using a cross zig zag search grid but with diffrent settings this time I decided to use the non motion pin point mode.

The target area is a tot lot with wood chips mainly because one its easy to retrieve targets and two most of the targets are good.

There are wood chips to a depth of around six inchs often thought of taking a rake and clearing a square then detecting.

But today I decide to go with slow tracking speed and non motion pin point mode slowly sweeping the area I found a faint signal clearing away 4inchs of chips the signal got much stronger then quickly switching to motion with discrimation it came back with a high signal indicating high conductivity.

sure enough a five pence piece at around 4inchs of depth. So overall my machine had found a small coin at around 8 inchs.

My method is as follows for woodchip tot lots use non motion strip woodchips away down until you hit earth.

switch to motion discrimation if no signal is present or its choppy then strip away around 2inchs of earth from target area repeat until you get a good repeatable signal

this method finds me coins around 3 to 4 inchs deeper than I did with motion it would be interesting to hear your views on non motion versus motion with discrimation depths.

took away £9.00 using this method.

Next on to the grass area loads of trash here so I switched to a faster ground setting to seperate the targets hit good targets to around 7 inchs here and found quite a few interesting bits and pieces.

working on the best method to use on the earth more to follow on that.

I also had the oppurtunity to search the beach not a great deal found here seems to be a lot harder than earth searching likewise more to follow.

I hope you have enjoyed my contribution to this great forum try it out let me know what you think.

p.s intend to post pics after first two weeks using this machine.

Striker, you really ARE getting serious about this. . . all kidding aside, I really am impressed with all the things you've been trying with your machine. By the time spring rolls around, you're going to have the relic bucket full and money in the bank. Just keep track (notebook) of when, what you find and where you found it if it looks interesting.

Regarding your machine, I'm really not familiar with it so I can't say if it's better to swing it slow or fast. From what you said, you seem to be doing fine

    Good luck & HH!

Re: My method for woodchips tot lots

As a newbie, some club members advised me to start with tot-lots and beaches.
Lots of success at tot-lots, and easy to dig at the beach, but I find coins in water really corrode quickly, and many finds are useless coins.
