Cleaning coins

New to the site. But a simple question I hope. What is the best way to clean the coins that are found? I know you don't want to rub the faces off of them, but I know by looking at everyones pics, they aren't coming out of the ground that clean!

Go to the bottom of the main page there is a forum on cleaning and preservation.

I soak my coins in Oxy 10 wash maximum strength for about 30 minutes and then brush with a soft toothbrush and liquid hand soap. The coin comes out nice and clean and will leave the natural patenia on the coin. Redo if needed.
