This spring was the first year that I really spent a lot of time hunting in forests
in the Chicago area. . . it's the only time you can hunt these areas without
getting torn to shreds by rampant Buckthorn. So far, my best luck has been
around some of the larger depression areas in the forest where I can only
speculate some of the larger trees once stood. This may be just "dumb luck"
on my part but, so far, I've found four V-Nickels from the early 1900's.

Additional places in the forest worth considering are in-and-around meandering
stream beds. I've found some old glass, porcelain, iron relics plus, some
old Wheat pennies from the early teens.

Take care & HH!

my 2 compasses and i love trees and stumps! it's those great kids again. they love to climb and hang upside down. i did it too. 45 and more years ago. a lot of other folks loved those trees too. a hot summer eve, a young couple in the shade. memories. first place in a yard i head to.
